Democracy and Peace: The Role of Indonesian Youth in Promoting Peace and Democracy
Voice of Istiqlal aims to make sure that Indonesian young people have the right to engage in democracy and peace, then, become an active citizen locally and globally. This can be achieved with better political citizenship education and democracy, peace and leadership training. This seminar project is to provide an engagement of students Madrasah Istiqlal, MAN2, MAN15 and IPRIJA (Institut Pemberi Rohani Islam Jakarta) throughout all policy-making processes in Indonesian democracy. Participant will learn from speakers and active discussion regarding US and Indonesia democracy and peace that affect young people. The participants will strengthen young people’s own voice in decision-making in democracy and promoting peace.
This seminar and discussion is not just to channel the youth perspective on the democracy and promoting peace but also giving a voice to young people to convey their message to the government and parliament.
The goal of the project is to empower Indonesian young people to provide a genuine youth perspective and analysis on peace and inclusive democracy from Indonesia and US perspectives.
Then, Students Madrasah, MAN2, MAN15 and IPRIJA (Institut Pemberi Rohani Islam Jakarta) seeks to achieve the active participation and autonomy of Indonesian young people in peaceful political citizenship in democracy and inclusive societies of Indonesia.
